The Promise
of Recovery
is Rooted in Love
Rachel’s Vineyard of Pittsburgh ministry is grounded in grief work, compassion, and effective recovery for women and men struggling with the emotional and spiritual pain of abortion.

We are a non-profit organization run by a dedicated group of volunteers and backed by a Board of Directors. Rachel’s Vineyard began as a grassroots ministry in 1986 developed by Dr. Theresa Burke. The Rachel’s Vineyard Pittsburgh ministry started in the 1990’s initially as a 14-week program and then in 2002 a weekend format was adopted. The ministry is currently available to persons in 48 states and 35 countries.

Give Your Grief
to God
Once post abortive suffering was identified, the Roman Catholic Church was one of the first to begin programs for recovery. Rachel’s Vineyard of Pittsburgh retreats are presented from the Catholic Christian tradition using the program written by Dr. Theresa Burke.
Our Mission is Rooted
in the Word of God
How did this ministry come to be named Rachel’s Vineyard? It’s rooted in this Old Testament passage from the book of Jeremiah:
“Thus says the Lord:
In Ramah is heard the sound of moaning, of bitter weeping!
Rachel mourns her children,
she refuses to be consoled because her children are no more.
Thus says the Lord:
Cease your cries of mourning, wipe the tears from your eyes.
The sorrow you have shown shall have its reward, says the Lord.
There is hope for your future!”
Donate to Support
this Ministry
We at Rachel’s Vineyard of Pittsburgh are dependent on the generosity of our benefactors. All donations are used to support retreat weekends, and no one is ever refused to participate because of their inability to pay.
